Hello! Thank you for your interest in the wish upon a ballet online school! My name is Gina Mayer and I am a teacher of all forms of dance and theater and have been teaching since 1996. Dance has always been a part of my life. When I was 2 1/2 I told my mom that I wanted to take dance classes and I never looked back!

Having a love for all forms of the performing arts lead me to pursue tap, jazz, hip hop, ballet, voice and acting. Musical theater and opera are actually my favorites. I received my degree in theater from the University of Minnesota in Duluth. Since then I have had the privilege of performing with some great companies since graduating including the Guthrie Theater, Chanhassen Dinner Theater and the Lyric Opera of NY.

In 2001 my husband and I decided to make the big move to NYC. I had the opportunity to study with great voice and dance teachers, perform, teach and choreograph musical theater. It was a great experience! When we decided that we wanted to start a family however, we thought it would be better to move back to Minnesota to be closer to our families.

Since being home I started my own program, called Mayer Arts, for children that wish to dance or perform musical theater. Most of my programs are through community education or parks and recreation programs. They are an alternative for kids that don’t want to compete and/or parents that want something more affordable with less commitment. Mayer Arts is now in several communities around the Twin Cities area.

Now I am passing on my love for dance to a wider audience. Whether you are a dance teacher, a student or a caregiver of a student I hope you have fun exploring this site and all it has to offer!
